Speaking of maps...

This is me, last week, working on the map for the new larger-sized park brochure.  We'll need to design a bigger counter.

What's new?

Brand new waysides at Antietam National Battlefield.

As you tour Antietam you'll encounter all new interpretive waysides throughout the battlefield. They're outstanding, and represent the work of many talented people and divisions here at the park.

Two entirely new locations for waysides include by the bell for the U.S.S. Antietam...

as well as a large-format battlefield map and explainer between the parking lot and the visitor center.

Come see for yourself,

Just north of Sharpsburg.

New book by John Hoptak

"Essential to every Civil War library, this lavish new atlas, though overly wordy, is beautifully illustrated."
- Mannie Gentile

Okay, that's a joke.  John asked me to do the six maps for his new book.  It was a real privilege to be associated with such a first-rate scholar of the Civil War as John Hoptak.  I hope we get to do something like this again.

Our Boys Did Nobly  is a first-rate exploration of the efforts on behalf of the Union cause by the men of Schuylkill County Pennsylvania.   As always with John's writing, it is a compelling story meticulously researched, and a real asset to any good Civil War library.

John continues to be a"go-to guy" regarding Pennsylvania in the American Civil War (could use a few more maps though).

Keep an eye on John's blog for release details.

I gotta go clean my pens!
